What a Weekend!!

This weekend, Ben, Theresa, Liam, and Ethan came for a visit. They got to town at around 9 on Friday night and we were up early on Saturday to make the little trek to the Toronto Zoo. We had a great time! I'll have to admit that I wasn't expecting the fun I had watching 3 year olds' reactions to animals they haven't seen on a regular basis...it was hilarious! My favorite was when they saw this python

and then one turned around, shivered, and said in a shaky voice while grabbing on to Ben's leg, "oooooh, I'm scared of snakes!"

We saw monkeys....
Ate popsicles Saw giraffes in weird poses...

Watched elephants and tried to imitate them...

Saw cheetahs--my favorite!
Had fun......and then crashed.Delilah loved playing with the boys, too. She absolutely adores them. What a great weekend! We love visitors! If you haven't been here yet, or haven't been in a while, COME SEE US! :)

Delilah's Photo Shoot!

It was nice outside yesterday and I got off work early, so I decided to torture Delilah and take bunches of pictures of her.

To see all the pics, click here. She could be a doggie model, don't you think? :)

I'm SO excited because...

1) The weather has really gotten nicer over the past week.

2) We had a great time Up North last weekend.

3) Dick Eberhart came to town on Monday and went to dinner with us---we love visitors.

4) My brother-in-law Ben stayed with us last night since he was here on business (2 visitors in a week--that is UNHEARD of!)

5) Ben is bringing his family back up on Friday night to spend the weekend with us. It will be their first visit to Toronto! The weather is supposed to be fantastic, so we're going to the Toronto Zoo! The boys will love it and so will I--lots of photo ops!

6) There's a Boston Terrier Meetup on Sunday...I'm hoping we have time to take Delilah to it.

7) I got my eyebrows done this week. It may seem superficial and trivial, but oh boy does it make me feel better!

8) My friend Emma is starting a book club and she invited me to join! I've always wanted to be in a book club....our first meeting is next month, so I need to finish the book I'm reading now. The Soloist by Steve Lopez, it's great--and move on to The Guernsey Literary and the Potato Peel Pie Society. YAY!

9) Speaking of Emma, she and Mat brought their girls over on Monday to meet Delilah. They played outside for 45 minutes and it was so cute to watch them all. I am so in love with my dog, it's pathetic, honestly.

10) It's WEDNESDAY...that means Lost is on tonight AND that we're halfway through the week. Booyah.

11) My one year wedding anniversary is two months away and last night Gary and I started talking about how much fun it will be to go back to Swan Lake and use our free room that we got for booking our wedding there. We want to invite some people to join us for a little party and some golf.

12) I get to go back to Huntington for a visit during the first weekend of May for the first time since Christmas! I think it's the longest time I've ever been away from home, and I'm super excited because I get to meet my cousin's son Aidan for the first time, my best friend Abby's son Nolan, AND I get to help Jenny Baker celebrate her 25th birthday! YAHOO!

Overall, life is good.

Up North = Serenity Now!

You can't beat these views with a stick.

This past weekend was totally fabulous!! Gary and I had Good Friday off, so we left Canada at around 5:30pm on Thursday and finally passed through the Pinecrest Club gates at nearly 2am. The Losees were already there, so that was nice because everything was already opened up and turned on, and the place was actually warm! We had beautiful weather all weekend--we took lots of sunny walks by day and had fun by the campfire at night (we even made Smores and cherry-filled pudgie pies!). The pictures I took weren't all that great, since it's not really green up there yet, so the trip basically turned into a nature-themed photo shoot for my darling Delilah. She's recovering nicely after surgery and has all of her energy--and more--back after only a week. She loved it at the cabin! She went on walks with us through the trails without a leash and did a great job of staying right with us. She got to slop around in the mud and walk around with sticks in her mouth...what more could a dog want? We could tell she was very tired because she snored SUPER loud every night...but that's to be expected when you put in ten miles walking on trails!! Here are some pics from the weekend...check out the pics that show Delilah trying to follow Gary into his tree stand--CLASSIC!!

My only decent deer picture of the weekend (unless you count the skull).....man, I need a zoom lens!

Bad link.......

So I just checked the link for the Denver pictures I put up a while back, and the link didn't work. Stupid technology. Anyway, try this one: CLICK HERE

I promise that I am going to eventually photoshop the pictures and put them up on my Fotki site. This week has been nuts at work and I still think the two hour time difference has thrown me for a bit of a loop, but I'm going to try and get those pics up soon!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!

Plink of the Week!

If you had to be sustained by one type of food for a year, what would it be?

Singha Beer

I definitely think I could eat Thai food for a year....it's so good--the veggies, the soups, the noodles, the Thai beer (SINGHA!).....yeah, I could eat Thai food for a whole year, no doubt!

Excited

We're hoping to head Up North this weekend for Easter since we get Friday off and since our extended families are either going to be vacationing or visiting other family. We haven't been there since New Year's and we're very excited. It should be a good time for Delilah, who has been cooped up in the house since Sunday when she was spayed. She's recovering quite well and wanting to play already, but Gary and I are making her take it easy. By the weekend she should be well enough to run....and we've got 200 acres up there for her to do just that.

Pictures to come!

Welcome to April!

Sorry it's been a while since I've blogged, but that's because I was on vacation last week! I got to go to Denver, Colorado! I met my friend Deb out there, and we visited with her son, who moved out there in May. Not only did we see him, though, I also got to catch up with some of my friends! First, I saw Ellen, who worked with me at CET this summer and is currently a student at Denver University, and then I saw Jessica (one of my best friends) and Lucas (her awesome boyfriend who was also my wedding photographer), who moved there in July. Jessica took us gambling in a town in the mountains called Central City. It brought back great memories of our trip to Vegas a couple years ago. I also saw Kristen (an old friend from my education classes at Purdue) who moved to Denver three years ago. She's now teaching kindergarten in Golden and loving life. Colorado is so beautiful! We went up into the mountains one day and visited a couple of their many state parks. If it wasn't so far away from home, I'd definitely want to live there! Here are some pics from the trip! The mountains were beautiful, there were tons of wild animals, and the attitude out there is just so laid back! I want to visit again soon and take Gary this time, since he's never been there.
